Russia shuts down gambling operations
Russia has begun rolling out a blanket ban on all gambling in the country. The move will see thousands of casinos shut down. In total there are thought to be over 60,000 gambling establishments throughout the state.
The ministry of Health in Moscow claims there be over 300,000 people with a gambling addiction.
There has been special zones set up within Russia where gambling will be allowed, but many casino owners do not wish to move into these zones… stating that the areas are simply not ready for them.
“Who wants to go a thousand miles into the wild and start from scratch in a place where there’s no infrastructure… in the middle of a field?” he asked. “I can tell you, this is absolutely useless for business owners.”
In London, the Les Ambassadeurs Club casino has reacted by putting together special packages aimed at Russia’s high rolling casino players. Gamblers will be flown in direct from Russia on a private jet and will be treat to exclusive offers at the casino and the freedom to bet without breaking any laws.
